“Bonjour” Qantas!

“Bonjour” Qantas! This could be the welcoming message the new direct flight from Perth to Paris gets when it lands in the French capital city, next year.  The airline has been struggling with a lot of scandals and difficulties caused by the decisions of its former CEO, Alan Joyce. So, this is very welcome and positive news for our flying kangaroo.

Let Qantas take you to Paris!

Australian flag carrier Qantas has announced in a press release that will add Paris to his current direct flights from Perth to Europe. The airline currently offers direct flights from Perth to London and Rome. A return to the French capital city after almost 20 years of absence, says the article.

The flight will start from the 12th of July 2024 and will be operated by Qantas’ new Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The flights will initially operate 4 times per week to cover the peak of the European Summer and then move to 3-weekly schedule.

This is a partnership with WA Tourism aimed to promote WA to the world. The direct flights would be a great point of sell for tourists wanting to visit Australia but would it also be a great advantage to Aussies wanting to get to Europe. According to the article, it will be a 17-hour flight that will cut around 3 hours off the current fastest travel time between Perth and Paris.

Get consumer confidence back

Hopefully this news will help Qantas restore consumer confidence in the airline. Qantas has recently been involved in a scandal and the ACCC claims the company was sold tickets to cancelled flights. The airline responded to these allegations saying customers affected by these cancelled flights were offered alternative flights or a refund and there was never a “fee for no service”. However, consumers are still quite angry about the situation and all the scandals involving Qantas.

Let’s just hope 2024 brings our flying kangaroo back to its former glory.
